Types of Cosmetic Licenses in India
As per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, the following licenses are mandatory for manufacturing, marketing, and testing of cosmetics in India:

Eligibility Criteria for Technical Staff
Manufacturing must be supervised by a qualified technical person with one of the following credentials:
- Diploma in Pharmacy approved by the Pharmacy Council of India
- Registered Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948
- Passed Intermediate with Chemistry or equivalent qualification recognized by the Licensing Authority
Inspection & Approval Process
Before license issuance, the State Licensing Authority conducts an on-site inspection via appointed inspectors. Based on the inspection report, the Authority may grant or reject the cosmetic license.
